On Saturday 14th September Toyin Saraki and the Wellbeing Foundation joined thousands of people of all ages and abilities to walk from Millennium Park across central Abuja. The objective of the event was to engage the Abuja community in a celebration of healthy lifestyles, to advocate for Universal Health Coverage, and spread awareness of non-communicable diseases.

Wednesday 21st August, Toyin Saraki, global advocate and Founder-President of leading women and children's health organisation, the Wellbeing Foundation Africa, has welcomed the milestone of Nigeria being free of Wild Polio Virus for three years.

In a statement released by her office Mrs. Saraki stated:

Motherhood is beautiful and the joy of birth lights up households and communities, but the thought of exclusively breastfeeding her triplets for 6 months sounded unimaginable, as she listened to her midwife during her antenatal classes. All the way home, Mrs Amina Sani Abubakar, struggled with the thought of exclusive breastfeeding and the pain she'll have to endure and sacrifices she'll be making all through this period.

In many ways World Breastfeeding Week is business as usual for the Wellbeing Foundation Africa. Educating, empowering and supporting women to breastfeed is at the core of our work, and our MamaCare midwives are the experts.  Every antenatal and postnatal class – whether that is in a hospital in Lagos or a camp for internally displaced persons in Abuja - they field questions and provide the facts.

Toyin Saraki, Special Adviser to the Independent Advisory Group to the WHO Regional Office for Africa, has welcomed World Health Organization Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus back to Nigeria.
