At a Courtesy Call on His Excellency Governor Abdul Fatah Ahmed of Kwara State, WBFA Founder HE Mrs Toyin Saraki has commended development partners Development Africa Organisation and Exxon-Mobil for quality construction and equipping the brand new Maternity Referral Centre (MRC) at Eruku, Ekiti LGA of Kwara State Nigeria.
Designed and constructed as an eco-friendly community-based centre, the Eruku MRC is fully staffed and equipped to serve the antenatal, delivery, and postnatal health care of the approximate 20,000 annually pregnant mothers and newborns in the Eruku community, in line with millennium development goals achievement.
Commending implementing partners Development Africa and sponsors Exxon-Mobil, Mrs Toyin Saraki, represented by Dr Luther-King Fasehun said "this is evidential proof of action, that with strategic collaborations (MDG 8), global innovations can be actioned in a community setting, for the health and survival of mothers and newborns" while Midwifery Programs Officer WBFA, Mrs Patricia Komolafe assured the partners of WBFA readiness to engage midwives in the proper care of mothers and their newborns in midwifery-led quality services, data management through personal health records and resource deployment.
Mr Joshua Kempeneer, said "When this Maternal Referral Center (MRC) is launched, it will be accompanied by free medical check-ups, free basic surgical procedures, and free ophthalmic procedures."
Commending the collaborators, Governor Ahmed thanked Mrs Saraki's Wellbeing Foundation Africa for not relenting in valuable actions to bring the best of global practice to Kwara State Public Health Service Delivery
The MRC, to be donated to the Kwara State Ministry of Health, will be officially commissioned by His Excellency Governor Ahmed later this March 2015.
