The Wellbeing Foundation Africa (WBFA) Abuja team visited the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation (FMWR) as part of its ongoing advocacy to strengthen collaboration on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) interventions through the WBFA–Dettol Nigeria Hygiene Quest programme.
During the visit, WBFA’s State Programme Lead, Mr. Kelvin Agagbe, delivered a presentation outlining the Foundation’s interventions. The presentation focused on behaviour-change education, school and community engagement, and hand hygiene promotion. Requests were made to register WBFA as a frontline partner with the Ministry, integrate WBFA data into WASHIMS, encourage Ministry participation in WBFA programmes, and facilitate WBFA’s involvement in Global Handwashing Day activities.
Mrs. Elizabeth Ugo, Director of Water Quality Control and Sanitation, commended WBFA for its contributions to improving hygiene across communities. She reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to collaborate closely with WBFA, including facilitating its membership in national WASH networks, supporting data integration efforts, aligning WBFA midwives and nurse educators with federal training curricula, and encouraging joint participation in programmes and events, including the upcoming Global Handwashing Day 2025.
The courtesy call reinforced WBFA’s partnership with the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, laying a stronger foundation for collaboration on policy alignment, data sharing, training, and joint advocacy efforts. WBFA also presented its 2024 Annual Report, highlighting 20 years of advancing wellbeing advocacy across Nigeria.
