Stride for HER Rights Walkathon: Advancing Maternal Health in Nigeria

On February 8, 2025, the Stride for HER Rights Walkathon, led by Global Citizen Africa in collaboration with the Wellbeing Foundation Africa (WBFA) and other partners, brought together advocates and communities to champion justice, dignity, and equitable maternal healthcare.

Crossing the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, the walk symbolized a collective commitment to ensuring that no woman is left behind in the fight for her health and her child’s survival. The event proved the urgent need for increased health financing and stronger healthcare systems to address maternal health challenges across Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa.

Representing WBFA, Founder and President H.E. Toyin Saraki joined the Lagos team, reinforcing the Foundation’s dedication to:

  • Strengthening healthcare systems to deliver quality maternal and newborn care.
  • Equipping midwives and frontline health workers with essential resources.
  • Advocating for policy changes that drive sustainable, equitable healthcare solutions.

At WBFA, we remain committed to empowering mothers through our Mamacare360 Antenatal and Postnatal Classes, providing the knowledge and support they need to navigate pregnancy and early motherhood. The Stride for HER Rights Walkathon was more than a call to action or awareness, rather, it was a powerful step toward lasting change.
