The Wellbeing Foundation Africa (WBFA), in partnership with Reckitt Nigeria, is commemorating World Toilet Day 2025 with a large-scale school sanitation activation across Lagos, Kwara, and the Federal Capital Territory. Under the global theme “We’ll Always Need the Toilet,” the initiative mobilises over 300 Hygiene Quest Clubs and Ambassadors to lead Clean Toilet Campaigns, sanitation walks, and hygiene demonstrations.
Despite national progress, over 48 million Nigerians still lack access to safe toilets, exposing millions of children to preventable infections and undermining public health. WBFA’s collaboration with Reckitt through the Dettol Hygiene Quest Programme — which has already reached more than 400,000 individuals — continues to strengthen hygiene knowledge and behaviour change in schools and communities.
“Safe sanitation is a universal right,” said the Wellbeing Foundation Africa. “This year’s World Toilet Day emphasises that toilets remain vital to health, dignity, and human development. Through student-led advocacy, we are building a generation committed to hygiene and responsible sanitation.”
Activities across the three states include toilet cleaning, creative learning sessions, toilet-use demonstrations, and advocacy walks. WBFA programme teams will also host flagship events in selected schools, reinforcing institutional support for improved sanitation practices.
By empowering children as hygiene leaders, WBFA and Reckitt are advancing Nigeria’s Clean Nigeria Campaign and contributing to Sustainable Development Goal 6 — ensuring inclusive access to clean water and sanitation for all.
